Ancestral Dandruff...

I love listening to old music.... watching old movies.... staring at the old people in the grocery store.... It reminds me that there indeed was a place, a moment, in time.. other than this one... and not only other than... but before... That really means something... or well, at least it can, if you decide to acknowledge it... which you should.. we all should.... I can't help but feel a disconnect with where we all seem to be at the moment.... I've always been that way... but at the same time... I do bear that youthful rebellion... that blatant disdain for rules... policies.. or, really, anyone at all trying to tell me what to do...... But what can you really do in this life that doesn't involve having to do what someone else is telling you to?... It's just all a part of the game isn't it?.... I used to work at a pizza place... Did I really care about making the best pizzas in the world and providing outstanding customer service?... No.... but, in a way, I had to... in order to keep receiving a paycheck..... What are you doing for a living at the moment?...... Would you have even the slightest interest in it if wasn't your job?... Would you even think of putting any time into it at all if you weren't getting paid for it?....... If you can honestly answer yes.... then go sit in the corner until you realize just how unbelievably fortunate you are...................... and if you can't answer yes...... Then you just might be me......

Courtesy Flush...

I've been thinking a lot about writing lately.... my first love..... I guess I've kind of left it... 'sold out a little bit... I suppose I could do it full time.. knock out pages and pages, daily.... I'd have to get used to sleeping on cement though.... true suffering for the art...... Some people suggest that it requires a sort of balancing act..... I don't entirely (at all, really) agree... I wouldn't care much for that diluted lifestyle.... I'd rather be a square in a necktie than a phony with Ray-Bans and a closet full of flannel...... And I don't ever want to come off as presumptuous... you know?... Why should I feel that anyone cares about what I'm writing...? or that they may be at all impressed with anything that I may have come up with?... but I love to tell stories..... and I hate to shove them away in my closet after they've been written and never allow them the chance to be appreciated by eyes other than my own... as if they've the right to be appreciated anyway.... I just..... get tired of my thoughts... on reality.... because.... in reality... I'll never reveal them to you.... and we'll just go on playing this big game.... and you'll smile, and I'll smile..... and everyone will play nice.... and I should know better by now....... I know.....

I Hate Trying To Think Up Titles...

I've been thinking a lot about why people blog lately... Or rather... lately, about why people blog... in case you were thinking that I meant that I've been thinking about why people are blogging "at the moment"... anyway... The only (valid) thing that I can think of is that, if the "at heart" blogger doesn't blog.. he (or she) will implode... I know... because I've been imploding for the last couple of weeks... It took me a while to realize what it was, but quite fortunately, I've been having a number (a rather fine number) of things being revealed to me lately... and that's all I ask for, really.. That's always been my problem.. lacking that next (that very next) step... and now... I'm still not sure that I know what it is... but I've been walking them... And I feel like I'm wearing a brand new pair of shoes...

Unnecessarily Big Water Bill..

So my neighbors still have their sprinklers on... I wonder if those kinds of people even notice things like that.. I tend to take those types of things very personally.. I think it's because I notice everything.. every little thing.. Like one of those old-school farmer types, very particular... or "anal" (anal retentive) as I think most people would say nowadays... and I think that my noticing everything sometimes makes me feel like it would have to be impossible for others not to notice these things as well... But that kind of ignorance (truly) is bliss, I'm beginning to believe.. Those are the kinds of people that leave their sprinklers on during rainstorms and sleep like they've just had a couple of Ambiens, while people like me lay awake and wonder if the mustard and the ketchup talk to each other when you close the refrigerator door... I envy those other people.... such simple beings.... Not that I'm dubbing myself as more sophisticated, or even "complicated"... but I simply make things hard on myself.... or maybe I can't help it... I don't know.... but I know that I can't make it stop..... If I could... I'd be asleep right now.......

Paint Me..

Who's imitating you?... and what are they going to end up doing because of you?... There wouldn't be quite as many shaggy heads in the world if it weren't for The Beatles... as many eye-pokes, if it weren't for The Three Stooges... or even, (dare I say?).. a "Seinfeld" without the inspiration of a Woody Allen.... Everybody wants to be like someone else, in one way or another... I wanted to grow facial hair when I was a lot younger....... and now..... I HAVE to shave...... What's my point?..... My point is.... this... is an AMAZING song.....

"S-A-N-F-O-R-D, Period."

You don't realize just how disgusting your living situation happens to be until you know someone's coming over.. It's even worse when you DON'T know they're coming over, and your only warning is the doorbell... I've learned to hate the sound of my doorbell........ So....... I'm at home.. on a warm, Friday afternoon.. "YouTubing" like I do.. and I hear the doorbell ring... I figure it's a Jehova's witness, or someone trying to get me to subscribe to the newspaper... I rush to the door, quickly (yet quietly).. look out the peep-hole.. and realize that it's the guy that needs to check on a couple of things regarding the new house... warranty stuff... so... I scramble to find a pair of pants (I take my casual Fridays seriously) and answer the door... Long story short.... I ended up asking him to come back two and a half hours later, SO I COULD CLEAN...... That's.... embarrassing..... but it's not my fault... apparently, I married Fred Sanford... My wife will say, any day, that she's cleaner than me..... she's wrong..... and you can tell her I said this too..... So..... I must've burned eight thousand calories, single-handedly, cleaning this entire place.. all by my lonesome... but I'm glad.. because I no longer feel like I'm living on the set of "COPS"....

Left-Arm Tan..

Don't you ever feel like you're stuck in the DMV of life?.... waiting for your number to called?.... and the people behind the counter seem to be even less enthused than you about being there?...... rightly so, I guess.... I pass by the DMV, every day, on my way to work... and I look out, through the car window, at the long line of "unfortunates"... a line that looks as though they're waiting to see the ninth Twilight movie... which, coincidentally, also happens to be the release of the new iPhone 12.... and they're hot.. waiting in the sun.. depressed.. bored... most of them, missing work... and I feel bad for them.... and then I wonder.... who's passing by ME every morning?... looking out of their window, to see ME in that line?.... around that sterile building... that DMV of life..... but no one really wins anyway.... I'm not any better, as I drive by in my car... my air conditioning is broken... and with the help of my leather seats, it can easily get to 112 degrees inside.... they're better off than me........ So the grass is always greener, but the dog is always meaner.. and he's gonna bite..... and where I happen to be may not be the best place, but I'd much rather be me than you.... and I sincerely hope that you can say the same to me....

Cold Soup...

There are so many things that I'd like to say..... but I'd have to be a fool..... Everyone likes to know the truth.. especially nosy people like me... but who on earth wants the truth to be told about themselves?... It's like when you see someone slip and fall on the street and you can't help but laugh.. but you know that it wouldn't be quite the same if it were to happen to you.... I've found satisfaction in the least likely of places... and where I thought I'd excel, I often seem to have failed.... people have failed me.. life has failed me.. I've failed myself..... God hasn't failed me... but He HAS given me my own free will, and THAT'S what gets me into trouble... And the gifts I've been given torture me if I don't utilize them correctly... a double-edged sword kind of thing.. there's no rest........ I've been waiting for something my entire life..... I always thought I'd know what it was by now... but as years pass, I only grow more confused... and I need to create my own "realities" in order to remain sane amid all that I don't understand, going on all around me.... and before I know it.. those realities have turned on me.... and they stretch me.. so much further than I can go... and I end up a mere percentage of what I potentially "could have been".... I don't find success in money.. cars.. clothes.. popularity.... I think success is something like.. being able to fall asleep at night.. without wishing that you'd done every single thing differently that day... without wondering if you've had your best days.... without the dread of tomorrow...................... I'm an unsuccessful person...

Old Soul..

People aren't as kind as they used to be.... Now... I wasn't around when "used to be" was... but I've seen it on TV... Like Mayberry, in "The Andy Griffith Show"... Saying "howdy" to complete strangers.. being able to leave your doors unlocked.. a sense of community.. rather than prideful and defensive territorializm (not using the word "correctly" but you know what I mean)... People stare.. people judge.. size up.... I go to buy bread, and before I'm back home.. I've had a sort of mental "tug-of-war" with at least 19 different people.. On the road.. in the parking lot.. in the aisle.. in the line... And it's not easy for me.. I don't take it well... because I DID grow up in Mayberry... I didn't grow up like my "contemporaries".. and it's always kept me.. separated.. and I'm SO GLAD..... They look at me like an alien... and I just say.. "Howdy."..

Three Strikes..

Sooo.... I was talking about annoying drivers yesterday.... And it's kind of funny.. the things that I saw the VERY next day.... I was driving home from Clovis today, just in time to catch the second half of the Laker game (YEAH, WHATEVER).. and I encountered a few interesting things... As I was driving along Academy, I saw a maroon SUV coming in the opposite direction. For whatever reason, I turned to look at it as it neared me.. I had to do a double-take to make sure my eyes hadn't decieved me the first time... There was A BABY at the steering wheel.. Now this wasn't a Britney Spears kind of scenario.. going through town; home, just around the corner (wrong as it was)... NO... This was an SUV going about 65, down a major road, with a child (that could NOT have been any older than two) behind the wheel... It made me sick... I hoped so bad that they'd get pulled over.. That's the kind of thing that needs to be "nipped in the bud"... And then........ as I'm driving down 180... I see a truck pull over to the side of the road, and about three men get out... I think I knew in my mind what was coming next.. but there's nothing like actually seeing it... Right on the side of the road.. terribly visible.. where there are ALWAYS cops, driving up and down.... The men.. are peeing.... contaminating some poor farmer's land.. as bold as they could be, and as if this is what they were born to do..... no shame...... and finally.... as I'm now on Reed.... There is a car in front of me.. going what must've been a faithful 49 mph.... all of a sudden... they swerve clear into the oncoming lane, just as a huge truck is approaching, in that same (opposite) direction... just as I think they must be committing suicide... I realize what had happened... They were trying to kill themselves.... the people in the truck... and possibly, me (and the car following VERY CLOSE behind me).... In order to spare the life of a squirrel........................ WHAT??????!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where're The Hovercrafts?! It's 2010!!..

Do you ever have some moron on the road pass you, seemingly going about 80 mph, only to have you pull up RIGHT BEHIND THEM at the stoplight anyway?... I see this all the time... I do it.. I've had it done to me... but I've realized something... no matter how much it happens... we still do it.... I still do it... Isn't that along the lines of the definition of insanity?..... That's me on the road though.... the definition of insanity.... You want to find out how incompetent humans are, put them on the road... I've seen some of the dumbest things... and somehow... I always end up around these people.... The van in front of me, going 4 mph, with 19 guys in it.. The guy who thinks he owns the road, with his huge (lifted) truck, behind me.... The cars zooming this way and that way, with drivers that look like they're twelve years old....... One big asphalt runway, where we model the imperfections of man........ And there's almost nothing I hate more than a four-way-stop... You can't trust a human-being with that much responsibility... I often drive BLOCKS extra, just to get the light, instead of dealing with the four-way-stop... You ever get the person that CLEARLY stops about 5 whole seconds before you, and then they just sit there?.. so you wait, and then they give you "the wave"?.. What is this?.. They're playing traffic police all of a sudden?.. Deciding who gets to go, and in what order?.. NO... You stopped, you go!... It drives me crazy... I turned off the car once and just sat there... was this childish?.. maybe.. But I did what I had to do... And we went in order......... The molar of the story?.... Take the bus....

Tipi-Coal..

Have you ever stuck a Q-Tip so far into your ear that it makes you cough?.. It's weird.. I do it all the time.... For some reason, it only happens to the right ear though..... And believe me, I spent quite some time provoking the left ear.. but no dice... Things like this bug me.. I need answers... I'm the kind of person that stares at a dog and wonders if it can understand me.. actually telling it to do something like bark, or lift its paw if it does... I look into mirrors and wonder if there's anyone on the other side... and I wonder what compels a person to wear sandals (I hate feet)... Anyway... As I pan across the apartment.. I can't help but think of the set of Sanford and Son... Well... maybe a cross between Sanford and Son, and COPS... The consequence of that old philosophy.. "Why clean it?.. It's only gonna get dirty again.."... It's so funny though.. how certain "philosophies" won't dare transfer to another... "field".. You can go for days without cleaning your home.. but you still brush your teeth everyday.... You can pump premium, and keep the inside of you car spotless and smelling like cherries.. but you feed yourself french fries and sugar, all day (you know what I mean)... It's too bad that every area can't have its own epitome of relevance.. to everyone... But I think that this just kind of makes people who they are... Everyone's a character in their own right... Some are fun to watch... and some just make you want to change the channel...

From The Trenches...

I haven't been able to think straight lately..... No... You know what?.... I have.... But THAT'S what I don't like... I've grown quite fond of my incoherence over the past couple of years... I know too many boring people... too many "squeaky-clean" people.. too many fake people.. too many people that try TOO hard... I enjoy being able to weave in and out of anything "established"... At least I DID... I feel like I'm just waiting on something right now... I feel helpless... I feel like I'm living outside of myself... But once I'm outside... I'm nowhere... I don't even have the luxury of being on the outside, looking in.... I'm just gone... I can't serve myself, I know... But can I not at least cater to myself once in a while?... Is this against the "rules"?... Rules are no longer... "Rules"... once you gain perspective though... They just become like bridges on the way to... "privileges".. but are they worth it?.... YES!!.... YES!!!.... I KNOW!!.... but can't I catch a break?!... I understand what I'm dealing with, but I'm only human... I know that humans are morons... That's easy... I guess it's just like that.. umm... what is it?... "having a cake and eating it?".. That's such a stupid saying though... Why on earth wouldn't you eat your cake?... Maybe they should say, "Becky wants to have her cake.. eat it.. and then steal another one from the store and eat that one too.. even though she's diabetic...".. That would make a lot more sense... And you know what?.. With that..... I think I feel a lot better...

Starry Night..

I often think of Starry Night.... A painting by (Vincent) Van Gogh... It's a fantasy of mine to own it one day... I think of paintings, and frames; and other things like that.. Things that you hang on the walls.. Cheap things that you buy from the store.. with their imperfections.... I buy them and I bring them home, but I have to stand far away so that I can feel good about myself.. So that I won't feel like a fool for wasting my money... I have to admire from a distance.. taking in the big picture, rather than obsessing over all of the little details.. The details depress me.. Most things do... Of course you can put this same observation to the beat of society... relationships... life.... The details are depressing... So I back up and look at the big picture, and my method lets me down... The big picture is even worse.. The big picture is defining.. it's credible... The little details are annoying.. and shameful.. But there are opportunities to overcome them... The big picture reveals the consequences of neglected opportunity... I don't know what to consider myself, amid all of this... I may be just as ignorant, but is my ignorance as dangerous?.. Am I a threat only to myself, or to my contemporaries as well?.. My contemporaries irritate me.. I fear for them... I used to play with them in the sandbox... I ate with them at lunch... We'd pass notes in the classroom... And now, it seems that none of them can even crack a smile without the help of alcohol in their systems... "Let's party.".. "Let's get drunk.".. "Let's go to Vegas."... It's pitiful.. It saddens me that they need this in their lives.. I wish I could help them.. I wish I knew what they needed to hear... And I wonder where we parted ways... I don't need that.. I never have... And I have a lot more laughs than anyone probably ever should... I'm not condemning.. I'm passionate.. I'm angry... I see roads not taken... and I see truth mistaken... I don't have the option to be objective... For I stand too close to the details.... And I don't have the nerve to face the big picture.. Because I've peeked before................. And I can't take it............

........ I Won't Forget It....

There's something special about a primered vehicle.. I've always been drawn to them.. I think it may have something to do with the potential.. The possibilities.. If I had to choose between driving a 2009 Lamborghini that had a little scratch on the side, or a '78 (primered) Chevy pickup.... I'd go with the pickup.... I saw one the other day at a red light, and I couldn't help but stare.. There's a kind of freedom that comes with it.. Every time I see one, I wonder what color they might paint it.. what design they may grace it with.. Any other car on the road that HAS color is like a completed portrait, or something.. But a primered car is like an empty canvas.. A primered car is "primed" to be painted.. That's sort of how I feel about this upcoming year... This upcoming decade... An empty canvas waiting for the painter.. Waiting to be painted... Endless possibilities.. Endless potential.. There's a kind of eagerness.. a kind of joy.... a kind of fear... A new painting, yes.. But who knows what kind?.. Are we heading out of the desert, and into The Promised Land?... Or out of the five-star restaurant, and into the bathroom?... Time will tell, as always.. For the first time (in a long time) I'm optimistic.. For I'm one of those who insist on holding a brush... eager to paint.. Entering a brand-new decade at the age of twenty-one is nothing short of a challenge to me.. I'm embracing.. and my mind, racing.... When I think of the quote, "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.".. I think of it as more of a summation of life (rather than a year, or even a mere decade).. But for the sake of getting something across.. the quote DOES (of course) hold true for the past year (as well as the last decade)... Lots of heartache and sorrow... And such outstanding joys and memories....... No decade will ever be as special to me as the nineties ('seems so long ago now)........ But I can use what I took from then, to inspire me... in every stroke of my brush...... There's a renaissance coming... And it'll speak for itself, soon...

A Nation Of Vexation..

If money is the root of all evil, then I must be pretty.... not evil.... But it's much too easy to assume the role of a martyr when things just aren't going your way.. I'm one of those people that happen to "have a heart" for the homeless.. For the "needy".. the less fortunate.. It really kills me when I pull up beside "one" at a light (or whatever) and I don't have any cash on me.. Of course, all sympathies aside, there must have been SOME sort of "series of events" that were allowed, in order to grant them such a destiny.. But should any man be denied grace?.. And then who's to say?.. (I know, but how much can I really get away with on here without losing "credibility"?) Some would extend a kind of mercy that others would not hesitate to rid the world of.. It's THESE kinds of people that should be living on the streets, like animals.. There are no TRUE stereotypes, or even credible assumptions.. There ARE good people that are living on the streets; and there are countless, ignorant hedonists that occupy our mainstream, and that live in the lavish homes.. engulfed in all of their ill-begotten gain.. undoubtedly bestowed upon them by our "O Impressionable Youth", as well as the "elders" who've grown tired of putting up the good fight against these antagonists that carry a fate unknown to even themselves.. A fate that shall be the death of their people all together.. It's the people on the streets that remind me that the world is REAL.. And it's the wealthy, with their noses held so high, that remind me that the world is AWFUL.. So who am I?.. Yes, I'm somewhere in between, but where does that leave me in the "grand scheme of things"?.. I'm not rich, and I'm not homeless.. But at the same time, I'm a certain type of rich, and yes.. a certain type of homeless.. We all are.. But far from most of us realize this.... I think that the ones that DO are better off.. King Solomon would surely agree that these things considered to be great riches, and the epitome of success, will surely rust and be eaten away by moths.. It's nothing other than foolishness to store up such things here on Earth.. On Earth, where the thief in the night can take away what you've "worked so hard for" in only mere seconds.. Where the possessions which you cling to cannot be taken when your time has come.... Who then is greater than the other?.. None... You see the man on the street who's hungry.. And then you proceed on to your home.. with your countless idols.. Your TV, your computer, your CD's, your furniture, even your loved ones.. whatever you may happen to have at your disposal.. As the homeless search the cold, hard sidewalk for a place to lie their heads at night; the fortunate nestle in their warm beds, and bother their minds with such trivial things.. Things that the less fortunate would be so fortunate to bother THEMSELVES with........ When I begin to feel sorry for myself... it's THEN that I realize just how "sorry" it really is for me to feel this way.. And that in my "own right".. I'm truly the wealthiest person on Earth.. And I realize... that it's those people in the big houses, and with all of the money that I REALLY do feel sorry for.. MY riches cannot be spent, repoed, or taxed....

From Small Red Chambers Unbeknownst To Many..

It took me quite a while to realize exactly what it was that I REALLY wanted to do with my life.. And when I ended up gaining about 22 pounds after realizing that what I wanted to do was eat fast food and drink Pepsi all day, while watching Matlock (I wasn't working).. I figured that maybe I should try something else.. I still eat fast food and drink Pepsi all day, but now I think "skinny".. And I'm not gaining any weight (and the 22-odd pounds are gone).. but I'm not gonna ask questions.. The universe seems to be working in my favor.. Fine.. But don't you ever feel like the whole world is against you?.. I still can't get over those cold chicken nuggets that I had last night.. I didn't have the BEST day, and in that case my "meal" can be something of a meditative cleansing.. Anyone that REALLY knows me knows this; and even though everything that I both know, and believe in, tells me that it's not only inappropriate, but unhealthy as well.... it happens to be number 43 of my 217 "thorns in the flesh".. You only have so much flesh to work with in the first place, so understand that I don't always feel as though I'm running with both legs.. But I knew I'd find solace in the nuggets... The nuggets.. Those warm, precious nuggets in all their glory; with their crispy outside, and tender, juicy inside.. Not without the hot mustard (of course).. This, has many a time pulled me from the lurch.. Well.. This was not to be the case last night.. I felt like a wounded child going to bed without having had supper.. Trivial?.. Petty?.. Who's to say?.. I'm a "victim of my surroundings" yes, but who isn't?.. Everyone is.. Whether or not you "succumb" to it doesn't change anything.. But I happen to be a victim of my generation as well.. I constantly feel the need to apologize for my idiot generation.. but to who?.. None are perfect, after all.. You've got your lazy generations.. your self-righteous generations.. your rebellious generations.. your "intellectual" generations.. and so on.. Even the nicest house has an unpleasant smell coming from the toilet.... I guess the trick is to do your best to keep it there.. I think I've just grown a tad bitter of my own because of course it's much more personal.. I've never been able to "identify" with them, but believe me.. I'm glad.. It's actually quite a task to even look at someone's personal profile anymore without seeing a few oh-so-hip photos of them holding their plastic party-cups.. "Look at me, I drink!" It's like posing for a picture while you're reading the newspaper, to show everyone just how complex you are.. You hear that everyone has their own assigned guardian angel walking around with them all of the time.. I think that everyone should have a PR person as well.. You really CAN'T tell a book by it's cover.. But I think you can really find out.. almost pretty much everything you need to know about a person.. by glancing at their personal profile.. And you know what I've learned?.. I'm surrounded by a bunch of indulgent, meandering morons.. With alcohol and the weekend gatherings of immorality at it's best, serving as their constant muse.. Even still.. I know that there ARE lots of "good" people out there.. I wish I could say that I was one of them..

To Each, His Moan..

You know what it means when someone says, "It's good to see you."?.. It means that they have absolutely no idea what to say to you.. There's nothing wrong with this.. They've simply drawn a blank.. They've been caught off guard.. I don't know how many times I've said this myself, and I couldn't have meant it cause I don't really like to see ANYBODY.. It's awkward.. Like when you see someone from high school, or something at.. let's say Save Mart.. It's like, "Should I wave? Should I wait for them to wave first? Are they waiting for me to wave first? Should I just nod?.. maybe a wave is too desperate.. Or maybe just a smile?.. a nod might be a tad "ethnic".." And then by the time you go through all of this in your mind, you're already half past them, and you end up giving them some sort of half nod, half wave, half smile.. And if the idea of three halves isn't ridiculous enough, you have the nerve to feel snubbed when all that they can gather is a provoked look of sudden anxiety as they simply walk past you and hope that you won't be so inconvenient as to dare strike up a conversation.. Kind of the same idea as when you try to walk past those people standing outside of Walmart asking you to donate money to some country that wants to wipe us out.. Or asking you to sign a petition to save the Smelt Fish, or something like that... It's okay to let the humans dehydrate, and have the agriculture "go to Hell" (as they say) but the "forsaking" of the little fishies.. well that would just be unbearable wouldn't it?... After all.. They are our ancestors, right?.. Geezum Crow... I do the same thing in that situation as when I'm at the mall though.. You know?.. When everyone in that middle area is trying to sell you a phone, or some dollar shades, or face cream, or whatever?... I just pretend that I'm on my phone... And I'm always angry.. It's always some really important call like I lost some money in the stock market, or someone didn't meet a deadline, or something like that.. So if you don't want anyone in the mall to ask you if you want one of those twelve dollar massages, or someone outside of Walmart to ask you for your change (because after all, that's the change that you were gonna use to buy a gallon of gas, just to make it home).. Then just pretend that you're on your cell phone.. And be "angry".. It works.. Just make sure that your phone is on silent.. It's understandably not as effective when your phone rings during your fake phone call.. But these "extreme measures".. don't seem so extreme to me.. I mean.. I'm simply.. "honking a clown's nose".. I think it's better to be real than annoying.. But no one is gonna stop saying things like "It's good to see you.".. Or, "It's nice to hear from you.".. But realize that it's nothing more than filler.. Filler, in between the gossip, and repressed feelings (ne-er to surface).. But that's America (for the most part).. Artificial.. superficial.. Think about it.. "America the Beautiful".. Not, "America the Honest, or the moral, or even the decent".. But Beautiful.. I do realize though that I'm being unnecessarily over-analytical, but it's my "thorn in the flesh" (amongst at least a handful of others) to quite often assume an overly-cerebral persona.. But many things bug me.. Like these people that can't tilt their cups/glasses.. They MUST slurp.. If you believe in evolution.... I don't think that these people "evolved" all the way.. Lift your arm, tilt the glass.. it's easy.. Or these people that feel that they have to say "seriously" in order to get their point across.. The word is dead to me now.. It's been ruined.. tainted.. You want people to start taking you seriously?.. Stop SAYING "seriously".. It's like saying "Ba doom bum." after you tell a joke........ In conclusion.... If you only take ONE thing away from this, then take this.... Black coffee is A LOT more effective when it's cold...

Just Leave A Message

I'll be honest.. I can't stand holidays.. The corny music.. The trees.. The turkeys.. The cards.. The lights.. Those annoying trick or treaters.. Guess what I did this Halloween.. I went to Walmart, because I didn't want any annoying trick or treaters at the door.. I didn't want to deal with it.. And the phone calls.. The holiday phone calls.. I can't tell you how many times I've been on the phone today.. I mean, sure, I could easily check my call log; but I simply don't want to rehash any of it.. I gotta tell you.. I hate talking on the phone, as it is.. And text messages.. Those are just as bad.. I happen to be one of those squares that's purchased a cell phone, simply for emergencies (or "important" things).. You want to know what one of the worst things you can possibly do to me is?.. Call me on the phone, just to chat.. Text me, so we can go and have a coffee.. You know what?.. I can think you're the best and most wonderful person in the world, but it doesn't mean that I want to get off of my couch to go out and chew the fat with you.. Nothing personal; really.. I've thought about this more than a couple of times, actually.. And I'm not angry.. I'm writing this with a smile, as I listen to The Marx Brothers in the background.. I was just made this way, that's all.. I have "friends" that I haven't seen since the first grade; and in my mind, we're still the best of friends.. But it doesn't mean that I want to go rollerblading with them or anything.. I like my privacy.. I'm a writer, at heart.. I'm content to simply observe from a distance, and meander through life in some sort of imaginative haze.. I don't necessarily need to "partake" in certain things.. And really, I don't care to.... All of this is just... I hate holidays.. They seem to bring this out of me.. I get the same way on my birthday.... On holidays, and my birthday, I prefer to just be alone; with a soda and the remote.. And when I happen to get fed up with myself, and wonder why exactly I go on this way... I think my only answer is... You really can't go back home.. Things are never gonna be as good as when you were younger... When you got that first bike.. Or when you discovered that it was your dad eating the cookies, and your mom filling the stockings.. Or when you didn't have to worry about things like if this one was going to be your last one, together.... You felt so safe...... That's enough...
